2020 Vision: 'How writing down the vision and making it plain' saved my life!

"Write the vision; make it plain" - Habakkuk 2:2

What is stopping you from living the life of your dreams? Is it lack of motivation, family obligations, fear of failure, finances, or maybe it's even the fear of success?

What do you do when you feel stuck? What do you do when you are standing in your own way?

Personally for me, I've struggled with staying consistent with my brands, discipline, lack of focus and believe it or not self-confidence. I've often second guessed myself and sought validation from those around me, this way of thinking left me defeated. Not only was I defeated, at times I felt anxious and depressed.

But those days are over, I want to share with you and others going through the motions how I shifted my mindset by simple writing down the vision.

Writing Your Wrongs

When was the last time you set alone with your thoughts with just a pen and paper? No cell phone, t.v. off.. absolutely no distractions. Just you, quiet, pen, and paper. Before I was able to write down my visions and make them plain, I started journaling and writing out all the things that bother or disturbed my peace. Once those things were in black and white on paper, I was able to jot down solutions. Doing this freed my mind of what I call 'junk thoughts'. Junk thoughts are the thoughts that serve no purpose in your life, other than taking up space.

Set aside 10 minutes a day and journal your inner most thoughts, troubles, concerns, etc. I journal before bed and I make peace with whatever is bothering me so that I can awaken refreshed and renewed without the worries of yesterday on my mind. Get it out by writing it out, holding in anger, hurt, shame, or whatever you are dealing with will cause you angst in the long-run.

Once you beginning facing and tackling your problems in this fashion, things that use to seem big or monumental begin to shrink in size. Sometimes writing it down and seeing it in black and white, helps you realize how small of an issue some of your 'problems' are.

This process helps clear your mind of unnecessary thoughts and worries. Just like an internet browser, the more tabs you have open the slower your browser takes to load. The more tabs you close, the faster your browser operates. Close those tabs or in other words, let that sh*t go, write it down and flush down the toilet, set it on fire, do what you got to do..... to be the best version of yourself.

The Power of Writing Your Vision and Making it Plain

Now that you have cleared up mental space by writing your wrongs and letting it all go, it is time to delve into writing down your visions. There is no right or wrong way to write down your vision. Write down what is on your heart and make it plain. It doesn't have to be dissertation or Shakespearean, just write. The key is to make it plain.

We all have the gift of vision and writing it down helps you hold yourself accountable. Stick your vision in a place where you can revisit often, read it, feel it, and believe wholeheartedly in it. That vision wasn't placed in your mind and heart in vain, it's purpose is for you to fulfill it.

Be patient with yourself.

Trust the process and know that all things manifest in divine order.

In Love,
